A romantic scientist.

I received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and have been taking photos and living in many places since; northern and southern California, Paris, France, coastal Nayarit, Mexico, Marfa, Texas, and now back home in California. My work includes portrait, nature, documentary, fashion and travel photography, produced for a number of International publications, gallery shows, and museum exhibitions. While living abroad in Paris for many years, I curated art exhibitions and founded the award winning food and travel blog, The Trail of Crumbs. I also collaborated with Anthony Bourdain and his production team on many culinary travel documentary tv programs including “No Reservations” and “Mind of a Chef”, where I was called upon to tap into my personal network to secure unique film locations as well as cast notable chefs and personalities.

My short film, “Prestige Ingredients”, starring Alia Shawkat, showcases the current food scene in Paris within a fictional narrative. The film also features an original music score by Wilco’s Mikael Jorgensen and cinematography by Emmy award winning Ethan Mills. Based back home in California, I continue to work internationally within the photography, film, music, fashion, gastronomy and art community.

I maintain friendships and personal connections in many parts of the world. I travel often and my work depicts the many micro worlds I’m a part of. Through it all runs a continuity of mood that is at once soft, intentional, furtive, mathematical, and rich. Having an acute eye for patterns in nature, fleeting gestural moments, and visual coincidences, I handle my subjects like a romantic scientist.
